The Legionella Management Advisory Group is a collective of professionals in there own field of expertise that come together to address issues and give guidance on, minimising Legionella outbreaks.
The group was formed following the Inaugural National Legionella Conference held at the Gold Coast in November 2016.

Who we are
Chairperson - Kelvin Slade
Kelvin is a qualified & licensed plumber , drainer and Gasfitter. Holding endorsements in Backflow Prevention, Thermostatic Mixing Valves & Solar - Heat Pump Hot water Systems. Kelvin and his wife Mandy are the owners of Slade Bros Plumbing. Kelvin has been a member of MPAQ for over 20 years and is the current President . Kelvin also holds Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment, facilitating many courses for MPAQ throughout Queensland.
Decades of experience along with a deep level of knowledge has enabled Kelvin to assist his clients with their water quality management, understand identified risk’s associated in their infrastructure and successfully treating Legionella outbreaks.
Member - Barry Hage
Barry has a broad range of experience in hydraulic services designs for large commercial projects throughout Queensland with all aspects of hydraulics being encountered including siphonic roof drainage systems, gas, electric and solar systems for water heating and the reuse of grey water and rainwater for irrigation.
Barry manages his own consultancy firm of Hage Hydraulic Design Consultants.
Member - Katherine Taylor
Kathy Taylor is a registered nurse and midwife. She currently works as the Infection Control Manager at the Wesley private hospital in Brisbane, a role she has been working in for the last ten years. She holds a Masters’ Degree in Infection Control and Prevention and is an ICIPC Credentialed Infection Control Practitioner.
Kathy’s interest in Legionella management arose from an outbreak at the Wesley in 2013. She has learnt a lot about mitigating microbial contamination in potable water and water quality management in healthcare facilities and is keen to share her knowledge with other professionals.

Member - Richard Bentham
Dr Richard Bentham, PhD, MSc, FRSPH is a public health microbiologist and self confessed Legionella nerd. His experience covers 30 years of research and consultancy relating to Legionella and other bacteria in cooling water systems, potable water systems and composts and potting mixes. His research has resulted in over 30 International Journal publications and consultancies to Sate governments in Australia and overseas relating to regulation and control. His specific areas of interest are Legionella ecology, control strategies and risk management.

Secretariat - Tracy Barkham
Tracy is a self-employed business women who provides administrative, events and business support to a range of clients. Tracy’s work has exposed her to a variety of industries, including health, education, tourism, recreation and plumbing. This industry experience coupled with Tracy’s business acumen contributed to the formation of the Legionella Management Advisory Group in 2016.
